World of Music and Arts was founded in 1997 and has been serving the Richmond community ever since. In September 2015, the school relocated to a large state-of-the-art facility in the Steveston neighbourhood, providing an excellent environment for music study.

STORIES on WHEELS is an original street theatre storytelling act for the whole family. Tales are brought to life by a high-energy comic performer, using beautifully illustrated picture cards displayed in a magnificent miniature wooden stage attached to the back a bicycle. Featuring gorgeous illustrations by local artists, as well as traditional picture cards from Japan, several short stories are told with music, dramatic action, and audience interaction.

TomoeKai Dance, based in Vancouver, teaches and presents traditional Nihon Buyō dance from the Hanayagi School repertoire throughout the Lower Mainland. Nihon Buyō is the distinctive form seen on Kabuki stages since the Edo era, and the Hanayagi school style was recently showcased in the hit film Kokuho.

Matt Stapleton is a West Australian musician who moved to Vancouver in 2022. He sings, plays guitar and fiddle, and has been performing in bands since the 1980s. At the Festival he will be performing shanties and songs of the sea in his a unique and energetic style. Come along for a family friendly sing along experience.

Terrance is 8 x Canadian National Yoyo Champion. He has been yoyoing for over 13 years, being world finalist for 3 x in a row at World Yoyo Championships in the past 3 years. Terrance performs using 2 different types of yoyo, 1A and 4A, 4A being offstring yoyo. His performance is high energy, paired with upbeat music. Be sure to check it out!

The Buttery Biscuits are a young rock band proudly from Richmond who originally met through minor hockey. Connor (12) and Sejal (13) will impress you with their smooth vocals. Brothers Carter (10) and Keegan (12) show off their talents on guitar and drums. And Samantha locks down the groove with her bass.

Chibi Taiko is the first Canadian Taiko ensemble founded by youth in 1993 and is based in Burnaby. The group was founded in a hope to train the next generation of Taiko (Japanese drumming ) players in BC where the first Canadian Taiko group was founded in 1979.

Joross’ performances are rooted in rock and alternative cover songs, though he is gradually opening up to sharing original music as well. He is perhaps best known for performing at the opening of the 2025 UROC Awards, performing in Richmond Youth Media Lab’s events such as Open Mic and Battle of The Bands.
